FAQs

TRSRM Foundation benefits from the generous support of numerous donors and partners who share the foundation’s values and want to ensure the future of the next generation of Hispanic/Latinx leaders by providing them the means to higher education.

TRSRM Foundation currently awards 2 college scholarships annually in the amount of $2,000/each to extraordinary Hispanic/Latinx high school seniors. As the foundation continues to expand, we project the number of recipients to increase two-fold, if not more, in the coming years. Students must attend a four-year accredited college or university within the United States.

Yes, financial assistance is provided only for undergraduate education.

Students must be current high school seniors at the time of their application. The deadline is February 17, 2023.

We begin accepting applications after January 1st, 2023 of your senior year in high school. There is no advantage in sending your application early for the scholarship competition as all applicants are considered equally regardless of the submission date.

All transcripts and letters of recommendation should be submitted by the deadline of February 17th. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

We ask for three letters of recommendation. Two of these should be written by your high school counselor, teacher, or principal. The third letter may be submitted by someone who knows you well and can attest to your character, leadership ability, commitment to community service, and/or academic achievement. This may include an employer, mentor, or coach. It cannot be your mother, father, guardian, or family member.

Due to the national trend to test-optional, we do not require either SAT (Verbal and Math) or ACT (composite) scores. Results of AP/IB exams are optional as well. If you have taken these exams and have scores to report, you should submit those scores on your application

Because we do not require SAT/ACT test scores, there are no minimum requirements. Because the scholarship is competitive, successful applicants have demonstrated a serious commitment to academics. This is reflected in their course selection, high-grade point averages, rank in class, and test scores.

We require one essay, approximately 600-1200 words, in ENGLISH only. Please see the essay section of the application for your essay topic.

APPLICATIONS MAY NOT BE FAXED. Due to a large number of applicants, we are unable to accept faxed applications.

If you have a legitimate reason, that was beyond your control, for missing the deadline, you may call to request an extension. Approval must be given by TRSRM Foundation in order for the deadline to be extended.

Yes. You must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from the Department of Homeland Security showing any one of the following designations: Refugee, Asylum Granted, Indefinite Parole, Humanitarian Parole, or Cuban-Haitian Entrant in order to apply.

Financial need is a factor that we consider in awarding scholarships. If you think that you will be eligible for financial aid at the colleges to which you are applying, you should apply for TRSRM scholarship.

We do not ask for your parent’s income. Instead, we ask that you submit a FAFSA, financial aid award letter from an accepted college/university, or a Student Aid Report.

The scholarship may be used at any degree-granting four-year college within the United States. Recipients may study any academic discipline of their choice. The scholarship may not be used for vocational or technical training.

Semifinalists will be contacted by mid-March. Finalists will be notified in April. Because of the large number of applicants, we are not able to guarantee notification of those who have not reached the semifinalist or finalist stage. We will post the names of the scholarship winners on our website in June.
